Dr. Karla Rodriguez Garcia - Veterinarian

${name}

Dr. Garcia is originally from Adjuntas, Puerto Rico.

She received her Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Puerto Rico at Cayey.

She followed up her bachelor's degree with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Purdue University in 2019.

From the age of 7, Dr. Garcia knew she wanted to be a veterinarian. She believes that desire is due to her mother’s care and empathy towards abandoned animals on the island where she was raised. Her family rescued wounded and/or malnourished cats and dogs – and even a small chick one time!

Her mom, as a nurse that specialized in neonatal care, would nourish the animals and heal their wounds and before you know it, most of them would make a full recovery AND gain a happy home with her family.

Dr. Garcia feels extremely honored to carry in the footsteps of her mom by providing compassionate care to all her patients and establishing respectful and trusting relationships with their owners.

Her areas of specialty are clinical pathology, cytology, soft tissue surgery and dentistry. And she has growing interests in ultrasound, oncology and acupuncture.

Outside of work, Dr. Garcia enjoys horseback riding, bird watching, kayaking, baking, listening to music, singing karaoke & bowling. She also enjoys traveling to Puerto Rico to spend time with her family as often as possible.

She has two cats. A calico female named RubÍ and an orange male name Maui.

Dr. Garcia is bilingual in English and Spanish and has plans to learn a third language – either American Sign Language, Mandarin or French – in the near future.
